The Current War is this week’s big new release, with the first Horrible Histories film Rotten Romans becoming the latest addition to the summer holiday kidflick mountain.
The good news for Cineastes is that the big Cinema Rediscovered weekend is finally here. There’s so much to choose from that it’s difficult to pick a highlight. But the fact that the late, great Nic Roeg is finally getting the season he so richly deserves is surely cause for rejoicing in the streets. Check out Cinema Rediscovered founder Mark Cosgrove’s illuminating interview with Adrian Utley about working with the great man.
Elsewhere, it’s another busy week in film. The RSC’s live broadcast of Measure for Measure is the big event cinema, um, event, there are outdoor screenings of The Lorax and Scott Pilgrim vs The World, a new community cinema for East Bristol launches with a screening of BlacKkKlansman, Jaws returns to cinemas, there are previews of the umpteenth Fast & Furious movie, and, if you really must, you can sing along with Rocketman.
