Deep in the mountains of Snowdonia, the eponymous young girl (Eleanor Worthington-Cox) struggles to keep the family farm going in her father’s absence while dealing with her mother’s (Maxine Peake) mysterious illness. But there’s Creepy Shit going on, and villagers begin to suspect that Gwen and her family may be in some way responsible.

Set against the backdrop of the industrial revolution, writer/director William McGregor‘s expansion of his short film Who’s Afraid of the Water Sprite? is a slow-burning, atmospheric gothic folk horror that has earned comparisons with The Witch.
