Hot from Network, Faye Dunaway stars as a glamorous, Helmut Newton-style New York fashion photographer (the pix in her gallery were actually taken by Newton, fact fans) who develops a psychic link with a psycho and witnesses his slayings as they’re being committed. John Carpenter wrote the original script for this 1978 giallo-style sex’n’sadism exploitation thriller, but producer Jon Peters toned it down as a vehicle for his then-girlfriend Barbra Streisand. Even so, she declined to take part because of all the kinkiness, though she does provide the theme song.
It’s back on screen in the Restored and Rediscovered strand of Cinema Rediscovered, with an introduction by feminist horror collective The Final Girls.
