That Fast & Furious prefix is presumably to (a) sell more tickets, and (b) reassure the unwary that this isn’t a sedate drama about an upmarket department store.
This franchise spin-off sees the chalk’n’cheese duo of federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and mercenary Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) obliged to put aside their mutual hatred to tackle evil Brixton Lore (Idris Elba) – don’tcha just love these names? – a “cyber-genetically enhanced international terrorist” who’s out to polish off mankind altogether with his deadly virus. Assuming, of course, that our petrolhead heroes don’t achieve this first with their massive collective carbon footprint.
