New Film Releases: September 28-October 4 2018

This week Glenn Close makes an early Oscar pitch in The Wife, Malcolm D. Lee sets out to repeat the success of his comedy hit Girls Trip with Night School, and your all-girl skateboarding drama needs are met by Skate Kitchen.

Wednesday and Thursday bring previews of the third remake of A Star Is Born and Spider-Man spin-off Venom (in 2D and 3D). Elsewhere, the Encounters festival climaxes with a packed weekend of highlights including a focus on Italian horror and several opportunities to see all this year’s award winners.

Event cinema includes a 30th anniversary celebration of The Comic Strip’s Mr. Jolly Lives Next Door and Bristol Bad Film Club’s revival of the jaw-dropping Turkish Star Wars. There’s also a free outdoor screening of Hidden Figures in Millennium Square.
