Two for Joy

Director
Tom Beard
Certificate
15
Running Time
90 mins

Depressed mother Aisha (Samantha Morton) is barely able to take charge of her resentful teenage daughter and young son, but nonetheless manages to whisk the brood off for a cheapo seaside holday. Here they encounter another family with problems of their own.

It’s a hard sell, but Tom Beard‘s drama was wamrly received on its premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival (“…a drama that probes family conflict with insight and urgency”, enthused the Hollywood Reporter). Watch out for Billie Piper, cast very much against type.
