Gremlins

Director
Joe Dante
Certificate
12A
Running Time
106 mins

Return of the splendid blackly comic kiddie horror from Joe Dante (director), Steven Spielberg (executive producer) and Chris Columbus (writer). History records that way back in the dim and distant past (1984), there was huge controversy over the film’s violence – especially the gremlin in a microwave sequence – which was, of course, exactly what bloodthirsty nippers craved. This led directly to the creation of the PG-13 cert in America (12A in the UK). Inevitably, there’s a long-gestating ‘reboot’ in the works.

It’s back on screen in sparkling 4K restored form.
