If Paddington has taught us anything, it is that there’s gold in them thar CGI bears in a live-action setting. So it comes as no surprise to find that Disney, which has owned the screen rights to all things Pooh since 1966, has taken that route with this continuation of the franchise.

The story has Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) as a boring grown-up who’s lost all trace of his childhood imagination. So the denizens of the Hundred Acre Wood return to help him find it again. Pooh and Tigger are voiced by Jim Cummings, with Brad Garrett as Eeyore, Toby Jones as Owl, Nick Mohammed as Piglet and Peter Capaldi as Rabbit. Disney’s total domination of the global box office remains assured, just so long as nobody notices how closely Pooh seems to resemble our foul-mouthed thunder buddy Ted.
