Avengers: Endgame
Fourth film in Marvel's money-spinning superhero pile-up franchise
Bad news for the minority who take the view that superhero movies are loud, juvenile crap. This week sees the release of Avengers: Endgame in both 2D and 3D. Bets are being laid on this becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time. It’s already on course to shatter records by taking more than $1 billion in its first week. To achieve this, the Marvel superheroes are swallowing huge numbers of cinema screens. At the Bristol Odeon, for example, you’ll struggle to find anything else to watch.
In fact, although the choice is much reduced, there are alternatives available. The Watershed, bless ’em, are opening five new films this week: Eighth Grade, Styx, Pond Life, Ash is the Purest White and the locally made A Deal With the Universe.
