Adapted from a story by Ernest Hemingway, Don Siegel‘s 1964 crime thriller has hitmen Lee Marvin and Clu Gulagher teaming up to find out who hired them to whack John Cassavetes and why. This one features Ronald Reagan‘s last acting role before he went into politics and was originally made for TV but got a cinema release instead because of all the violence.
It’s back on screen in celebration of John Williams’ score to conclude the Watershed’s The Early Scores of John Williams Sunday brunch season, which is in turn part of Filmic 19.
