Ever noticed that Christian faith dramas and really bad horror movies tend to have the same wish-fulfillment plots? They both love to show clever-clogs sceptics being humbled by the supernatural.
This latest god-bothery drama from across the pond has a Richard Dawkins-esque “world’s most famous atheist” finding beardy man in the sky after an accident. This “will make you laugh and cry and want to stand up and cheer” – or so the blurb assures us. It’s the directorial debut of Kevin Sorbo, who also stars as the arrogant unbeliever. This should be no great stretch as he was also in God’s Not Dead, which – you guessed it! – had much the same plot. If that isn’t delightful enough for you, you may wish to know that the producer is Donald Trump’s pal, radio talk show host, Fox News regular and renowned conspiracy theorist Sean Hannity.
