The fourth Avengers flick and, if you’re counting, the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this one reunites the directing (Anthony & Joe Russo) and writing (Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely) teams behind last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. That became the first superhero movie to gross more than $2 billion worldwide, so it’s little wonder there’s no appetite for tinkering with a winning formula.
Plot-wise, this one sees the universe in a bit of a state thanks to the efforts of big purple space villain Thanos in the previous film. Expect the cliffhanger at the end of that one to be resolved and an excuse to be found for the key dead Avengers to come back to life. (Hey – they’re too valuable to kill off altogether.)
