Does the world really need a Hellboy ‘reboot’ just fifteen years on? And can The Descent director Neil Marshall really hope to escape the long shadow cast by the great Guillermo del Toro’s original film? We’re about to find out.

Ron Perlman declined to return to play the title role when he learned that del Toro would not be involved, so instead Stranger Things star David Harbour gets to wear the sawn-off horns. Milla Jovovich has been recruited to do the undead sorceress antagonist thing. The first trailer divided members of the nerd community, though they’ve been promised that this version would stick more closely to the original comics than del Toro’s film. Bristol location spotters should keep ’em peeled for shots of Waring House in Redcliffe. The production spent two days shooting scenes here back in September 2017.
