“A handbag?”
Olivier award-winning Sophie Thompson steps into the shoes of the incomparable Edith Evans to deliver Lady Bracknell’s immortal line in Michael Fentiman‘s bawdy adaptation of Wilde’s finest play, which has survived Oliver Parker’s dreadful screen adaptation and, er, a dragged-up David Suchet in the Lady Bracknell role on stage (the latter was actually rather good).
This is the fourth and final play in the year-long Oscar Wilde season staged by the Classic Spring Theatre Company and was originally broadcast live to cinemas from the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End.
