Bristol’s week in film: November 29-December 5 2019

Assuming film industry bigwigs don’t mistake a homage to the Agatha Christie murder-mystery for an invitation to tooled-up yoof to enjoy a barney in the stalls, Rian Johnson’s Knives Out is likely to be this weekend’s big hit. Speaking of Blue Story, Vue’s belated volte-face hasn’t put this unexpected cause celebre back on screen locally yet. But, perhaps sensing a commercial opportunity, the Bristol Odeon has picked up the release that nobody apart from hardcore fans of its director noticed last week. Now, having become this generation’s Rock Around the Clock (ask your granddad), it’s the film about which each and every member of the Chattering Class needs to have an opinion.

The Bristol Palestine Film Festival is this week’s big fest, with screenings at venues across the city.

Should you be hardy enough to venture outdoors, you’ll need to wrap up warm for those free festive Bristol Big Screen screenings in Millennium Square.
