Let joy be unconstrained: it’s the first – but by no means the last – Christmas movie of 2019, arriving at precisely half-past November. A festive romcom with a hint of Elf, directed by Paul (Bridesmaids) Feig and co-written by Emma Thompson and her hubby Greg Wise, the film centres on a perpetually unlucky young woman (Emilia Clarke) who does the meet-cute thing with a hunky chap (Henry Golding) while working as a department store elf.
As the title suggests, it’s packed with Wham! songs. You’ll know by now whether this will have you stampeding for the box office or fleeing for the exits.
