He’s back! And so’s she! And James Cameron‘s involved (he gets a story and production credit) for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgment Day – i.e. the last essential Terminator flick. Indeed, this one pretends that the last three increasingly awful Terminator movies didn’t happen (or they happened in an ‘alternative timeline’ as the traditional polite get-out clause puts it).
Picking up nearly three decades after the events of T2, Dark Fate has a brand spanking new liquid metal Terminator sent back from the future to whack a young woman and her human-cyborg protector. Creaky old Sarah Conner (Linda Hamilton) comes to their aid, recruiting the even creakier T-800 (yep, Arnie) to help out. As is now apparently becoming routine, the big fella underwent digital de-aging for the flashback scenes.
