Share Bristol’s Library of Things membership marks milestone
Share Bristol’s Library of Things membership has grown to more than 1,285 people as the charity expands access to borrowing across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
Since opening its first location in Kingswood in 2021, the charity has expanded to four borrowing hubs across Kingswood, Bedminster, Frenchay and Winterbourne, with more than 2,430 items now available to borrow.
More than 9,140 items were loaned in the last year alone, including DIY tools, carpet cleaners, camping equipment and kitchen gadgets.
To support growing demand, Share Bristol has launched a new website designed to make borrowing more accessible and help more people understand how the Library of Things works.

The updated site features refreshed branding, improved navigation and clearer information about membership and locations.
Nicki Banks, marketing trustee at Share Bristol, said: “We’ve grown enormously since opening our first Share Bristol Library of Things in Kingswood five years ago and our new website reflects that journey.
We wanted to create a site that not only showcases our impact and community, but also makes borrowing as simple and accessible as possible.”
She added: “Whether someone wants to save money, reduce waste or simply avoid buying something they’ll only use once, we hope the new website will make it even easier for people to discover the benefits of sharing.”
Members have also highlighted the financial and practical benefits of the scheme.

One Kingswood resident said: “As new homeowners, it’s been amazing borrowing what we need for different home projects while saving money on things we don’t need to keep as permanent purchases.”
A member from Bedminster added: “Booking, collection and return were all very easy, and the staff were really friendly. There’s a very good selection of equipment and it’s fantastic value for an annual membership.”
