Bristol cafes named among the best in Britain
Four Bristol cafes have been named among the best in the country, in a list published by Time Out.
Greytone in St Paul’s, Sweven on North Street, Wogan’s roastery and cafe in St Jude’s and Dareshack on Wine Street have found a spot on the publication’s list of ‘The 44 best coffee shops in Britain‘ in 2026.
The list published is based on the ‘Best Coffee Shops in the UK‘ ranking system, which assess business against nine criteria: quality of coffee, barista expertise, customer service, innovation, ambience and atmosphere, sustainable practices, quality of food and pastry, consistency and community.

London, unsurprisingly, assumed the largest number of spots on the list with 11 cafes from the city making the cut. Bristol and Manchester emerged as the second most diverse destinations, with four cafes from each of the two cities making it to the list.
None of the cafes in TimeOut’s best coffee shops and cafes of Bristol list from 2024 made it to this national list.
The publication said: “Real coffee-lovers know that you can’t just go just anywhere for a proper cup of the good stuff. Chain brands are convenient enough, but they rarely have the attention to detail necessary to impress a true coffee-head.
“That’s why the Best Coffee Shops in the UK ranking exists.

They continued: “The guide, as you’ll guess from the name, is dedicated to finding the nation’s highest quality cafés. A grand total of 44 must-try coffee spots were recognised across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Each of the 44 cafes on this list stands a chance to be included in the 100 Best Coffee Shops in the World list, which will be published in February.
