The Miseducation of Cameron Post
Sundance award-winner about a lesbian teen shipped off for 'conversion therapy'
The kids are back at school, so it’s time for some proper adult cinematic entertainment, beginning with a demonic nun in, er, The Nun. Your rather more upmarket choices this week are The Miseducation of Cameron Post and American Animals. And we’re about to discover just how big the audience is for an uplifting drama set in the world of competitive jigsaw puzzling. Puzzle is the one to ask for at the box office, if you can contain your excitement long enough.
Plenty of previews this week too. The latest Predator flick, imaginatively titled The Predator, pops up in multiplexes in 3D on Wed and Thur and in 2D on Thur. If you’re eager to be the first to see Crazy Rich Asians, the romcom that’s taking the US box office by storm, the Everyman has a preview on Wednesday. And in a late addition to its September programme, the Watershed is bringing Brady Jandreau, star of the much-acclaimed The Rider, to Bristol for a Q&A after its preview of the film, which is also on Wednesday.
The Curzon’s Sunset Cinema outdoor screenings season continues with Jaws and the summer’s seemingly unstoppable box office hit Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (this one’s already sold out). And if you fancy seeing Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park accompanied by a live orchestra, head on down to the Hippodrome on Monday.
As usual, follow the links below for more details and screening times and go here for our comprehensive film listings.
