An enjoyably daft, pleasingly gory Blumhouse B movie from Saw and Insidious writer Leigh Wannell, Upgrade does the Six Million Dollar Man/Robocop thing for a new generation.

Tom Hardy-alike Logan Marshall-Green plays a quadriplegic who’s offered an implant gizmo named STEM, which not only restores his mobility but turns him into an unstoppable fighting machine while talking to him inside his brain. Now our enhanced hero sets off on a vengenace mission against the wrong ‘uns who killed his wife and left him in a wheelchair. If Her had been a violent grindhouse flick rather than a cerebral arthouse one, it might have turned out something like this.
