Steve: Saving Men from Suicide + Q&A
A locally made documentary about the male suicide epidemic
Plenty of new releases this week, though they’re mainly smaller films pitched at superhero nay-sayers who’ve managed to avoid the all-conquering Captain Marvel. The most prominent of these tiddlers are Britcom Fisherman’s Friends and US romcom What Men Want.
On the film festival front, it’s the big Palace International Film Festival weekend at the Cube, while Bristol Film Festival’s spring programme continues with two events. At St. George’s you can catch the world premiere of locally made male suicide documentary Steve. For something completely different, head over to the Improv Theatre for the Bristol Bad Film Club’s screening of the suitably woke and restrained Maternal Instincts.
Directors coming to town this week include Carol Morley for a preview of Out of Blue at the Watershed, and Zara Balfour, who brings her acclaimed documentary Children of the Snow Land to the Orpheus.
