Impermanence co-founder returns to The Mount Without with new solo dance work
Along with Roseanna Anderson and Joshua Ben-Tovim, Italian dancer Alessandro Marzotto Levy was a co-founder of Impermanence Dance Theatre back in 2011.
Returning to the company for four performances across July 14-16, he will be bringing a new solo dance piece to The Mount Without.
TONY is Levy’s second solo work, and is described as “a physical act of resistance to the neglect, violence and fear acted upon our planet and people”.
It is “an intimate gesture that aspires to become a collective voice”, bringing the “vulnerability of an honest body” to the historic venue.
Moving through time, the performance unlocks a story: that of “the simplicity and complexity of growing up in a society that marginalises, wounds, and instils fear.

“It is an attempt to give space, time, sound, and movement to those who lack visibility.”
For Anderson and Ben-Tovim, it’s an exciting prospect to be welcoming their old friend back to where it all began. “He’s moving incredibly beautifully and the work is stunning”, Anderson says.
“We’re also platforming local artists as curtain raisers before the main performance on the final two nights, which will make them extra special.”
