Impermanence announces a brand new festival of dance
Impermanence continue to cement their place as the home of dance in Bristol, announcing a brand-new festival that will showcase an eclectic range of work from dancers, choreographers, performance artists, visual artists, cabaret and circus performers.
This Body // 1 will take place from February 25 and run until March 8.
It will open with Mathroo Basha, the new multidisciplinary work from visual artist and filmmaker Hetain Patel that examines generational change across his Brit-Gujarati family.

Karla Shacklock’s Niplash takeover is a two-day “lactivist call to arms” that will include installations, performances, workshops, discussions, DJs and dancing.
Owen Ridley-Demonick will be presenting a world premiere of his new performance, Caliban’s Dream.

And in Threads, Izaak Brandt will curate “a series of events which explore the intersection of dance, sound and performance through the lens and expanded fields of hip-hop”. With more details to be announced, these are likely to encompass performances, film screenings, talks, an “exhibition battle”, and an after party.
Rounding off the festival in style, The Golden Calf cabaret promises to be memorable way to “toast the muses and tip our hats to the idols who’ve shaped our world”, featuring special guests from The Invisible Circus, followed by dancing into the night.

Looking ahead to the spring, the venue has already announced that it will be welcoming Jo Fong and George Orange, with their award-winning “cabaret of life and near death”: The Rest of Our Lives, fresh from a run at New York City’s Under the Radar Festival.
Ongoing monthly cabaret lunches for people over 60 will feature plenty of performances alongside a welcome chance to socialise over sandwiches, cakes, hot drinks and a glass of fizz.
And from Monday morning contemporary classes aimed at people over 50, to youth dance training and adult classes for all abilities, Impermanence continue to offer something for all dance enthusiasts in Bristol to get involved in.
This Body // 1: A new festival of dance is at The Mount Without from February 25-March 8. For further information and tickets to all shows, as well as the rest of the Impermanence programme, visit www.impermanence.co.uk.
