No dream Gloucestershire debut for Dawid Malan
Dawid Malan scored 91 not out on his debut for Gloucestershire but his innings was not enough as Glos lost to Northamptonshire by eight wickets.
“It’s always nice to score runs but it’s better to score runs in a winning cause,” said the World Cup winner.
Gloucestershire won the toss and batted first, finishing on 184-2 which Malan said was “almost there” and which Northamptonshire chased down with 16 balls to spare for their eighth consecutive T20 Blast win.
Liam Scott and Miles Hammond both scored 33 for the home side but David Willey’s 73 off 32 balls and Nathan McSweeney’s 72 not out proved too much for Mark Alleyne’s men.
Surrey are the visitors to the Seat Unique Stadium on Saturday night with Gloucestershire still hoping to reach the knock-out stages of the T20 Blast.
