High-rise residents evacuated and treated after fire in flats
A number of residents of a high-rise block of flats were evacuated and treated for smoke inhalation on Friday after a fire started in a ground-floor shop.
Avon Fire & Rescue were called at around 5pm to the blaze, which had started in Redcliffe Barbers at the foot of Waring House.
Nine fire engines attended the scene on Redcliff Hill and residents were told to leave their houses due to the risk of smoke inhalation.

A number of people were treated by medics at the scene, but there were no serious injuries.
The fire was quickly extinguished with a high-pressure hose and jets, and an investigation is underway into its cause.

A section of Commercial Road was closed off and the street was clogged with police, ambulance and fire vehicles.
Waring House is a classic example of a post-war, high-rise housing complex, and is still managed by Bristol City Council though many of the flats are privately owned.
