Evacuation after fire breaks out at hospital
A number people have been evacuated after a fire broke out at a major hospital on Monday morning.
The fire was located in one of the medical centres on Marborough Street in the centre, a cluster which includes the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The exact location has not been confirmed.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service was alerted at 11am but the fire was safely extinguished before crews arrived.
Nevertheless, there was a large emergency service presence with at least six fire engines and three police vehicles on the scene.
Firefighters checked the safety of the building and cleared smoke from the area.
A section of Marlborough Street between the hospitals and the Bearpit was closed off to traffic.
However, the road was open as normal and the emergency vehicles gone by 1.20pm.
