Getdown Services announce album launch in-store

By Ursula Billington  Thursday Jul 23, 2026

Getdown Services are returning to Bristol at the end of a run of unique record store shows that will see them play in a stripped down set up without a backing track.

The handful of shows, which support the release of their much anticipated second album, Massive Championon August 14, will culminate with a performance at Longwell Records in Clifton on August 20.

“On this run we’re going to be doing something which is sort of the opposite to what Getdown Services has been about since the start: no backing track and playing actual instruments at a fairly low volume,” they said.

“It’s exciting but also quite nervewracking not to have the antics to hide behind but we’re confident all of us will get something out of it. Can’t beat going to new places, it’s one of the best things about doing this – that and the early nights.”

The pair’s chaotic, energetic and comedic live performances of songs tackling contemporary societal issues like consumerism, gentrification and the relentless nature of ‘the grind’ has been embraced globally by audiences, but they remain with Breakfast Records, the Bristol label that nurtured them through the early years of slog.

Enjoying a meteoric rise in popularity in recent years, they played two sold out shows at the Trinity Centre in January and have announced two nights at Bristol Beacon, one of which is sold out, in January 2027.

This year also saw them playing at Harry Styles’ Meltdown festival at London’s Southbank Centre, appearing on the BBC’s infamous Later…with Jools Holland show and doing tour support for Viagra Boys as well as touring the US and Australia.
