Award-winning Bristol composer to release debut album
An award-winning composer from Bristol is counting down the days until the release of his debut EP later this summer.
Joe Galuszka has recently released Fractures, the title track from his forthcoming debut EP.
The contemporary classical project explores themes of grief, resilience and the process of rebuilding after loss.

Its latest single, Conquering Mountains, composed at the French Pyrenees, expands on the emotional world established in earlier releases such as Requiem for Mum.
Recorded with The Bristol Ensemble, the orchestral piece blends intimate chamber music with cinematic soundscapes, reflecting themes of memory, transformation and hope.
The release is accompanied by visuals directed by filmmaker Giles Pitman, with the track mixed by Alex Garden and mastered by Nick Cooke, whose previous credits include Hans Zimmer and Ramin Djawadi.

He said: “Healing is rarely neat or complete – it’s fragile, ongoing and often uncertain. We all have a mountain to overcome; this track tells the story of mine.”
The EP has been released in stages across 2025 and 2026, drawing on Galuszka’s own experiences of loss.
It will also form part of a wider education project exploring music therapy, healing and community outreach.

The British-Polish composer is no stranger within Bristol’s music scene through his work as a teacher, conductor and composer.
His community projects have included The Ranch, where he worked as a music outreach worker, as well as a conductor at the Westbury Park Orchestra, Winterbourne Wind Band, COSMOS Choir at St George’s Bristol and the Bristol Military Wives Choir.

A University of Bristol graduate, Galuszka has composed scores for more than 15 films and documentaries, winning Gold at the London Independent Film Awards for Firekeepers of Kakadu.
His debut EP aims to establish him as an emerging voice in contemporary classical composition.
The album will be available for streaming from August 14.
