New cafe and wine bar inspired by Italian cafe culture
The owner of a mobile coffee van in St Andrew’s Park has opened his first bricks and mortar premises just a few hundred metres away.
Bacco on 44 Gloucester Road is a cafe and wine bar from Amir Sufiani that is inspired by the cafe culture of Italy.
The new business with seating both inside and outside promises to blend speciality coffee, fine wines, cicchetti and Mediterranean-style sharing plates into one welcoming space which is open seven days a week.
It is located next to the Post Office on the corner of Raglan Road in what was previously short-lived micropubs Bottle & Jug and Hammer & Ale, and for many years before that was an art shop.
Amir, who has taken Afista’s Coffee to several parks across Bristol, said he wanted to create a place with Bacco “that feels relaxed, welcoming and full of character”.
“Somewhere people can meet friends, unwind and enjoy quality hospitality from morning through to evening,” Amir added.
“I love the idea of cafes being more than just somewhere to grab a drink.
“Historically, coffee houses were places where people connected, shared ideas, built friendships and spent hours talking.
“That Mediterranean hospitality and sense of community is exactly what I want Bacco to feel like.”
