Another Early Man trailer and new artwork unleashed
Aardman’s Nick Park is currently beavering away to complete Early Man – his caveman-themed first feature since 2005’s Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Werewolf – in time for its January 26 release date. So far, UK distributor Studiocanal has released just one trailer and a handful of stills.
But in the US, where the film is released on February 16, distributor Lionsgate has released an additional trailer and some amusing artwork putting a Stone/Bronze Age twist on familiar modern devices, such as the fossil watch, the iStone and the beetle razor (which you can see tribal Chief Bobnar wielding in the new trailer). And who could resist Boar Snot (“For that just walked out of the cave feeling”)?
We’ve also been enjoying the titles they’re using in different countries for the film’s global release, such as El cavernícola (Argentina) O Homem das Cavernas (Brazil), Cro Man (France) and, perhaps best of all, Grottmannen Dug (Sweden).
Early Man follows the adventures of Dug the caveman (Eddie Redmayne) and his warthog sidekick Hognob as they lead their lovable yet primitive tribe against dastardly Bronze Age leader Lord Nooth (Tom Hiddleston). Shot on location in, er, Aardman’s Aztec West warehouse, it also feature local voice cast talent in the form of Maisie Williams, who’s cast as the rebellious Goona. The all-Brit supporting cast includes Timothy Spall as the voice of Chief Bobnar. He’s the leader of the misfit tribe, which includes Treebor (Richard Ayoade), Magma (Selina Griffiths), Asbo (Johnny Vegas), Barry (Mark Williams), Gravelle (Gina Yashere), Eemak (Simon Greenall) and Grubup (Richard Webber).
Scroll down for all the new US artwork.
