Free cinema tickets for new British coming-of-age comedy-drama ‘Sunny Dancer’
On July 27-28, more than 100 independent cinemas in the UK are taking part in Escape – a nationwide initiative supported by the BFI aimed at bringing cinema to all. Locally, the Watershed is the venue for free screenings of Sunny Dancer.
What’s it all about? Here’s the film’s official synopsis: “Sunny Dancer follows 17-year-old Ivy. When Ivy’s parents send her to a summer camp for kids affected by cancer, she has a hard time adjusting to the rules. But as the weeks progress, Ivy finds a friendly group of misfits and has a summer she’ll never forget at ‘Chemo Camp’.”
Shot entirely in Scotland, the film comes from 26-year-old writer-director George Jaques, and boasts an ensemble cast including Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Last of Us), alongside James Norton and Jessica Gunning as Ivy’s parents.
