Bristol Film Festival launches outdoor screenings at Arnos Vale Cemetery

By Robin Askew  Friday Jul 17, 2026

Fancy watching a film surrounded by the deceased? Yes, it might feel as though you’ve been doing so for years at certain of the city’s less salubrious cinemas, but we’re talking about an actual cemetery here.

Bristol Film Festival has used the lovely Arnos Vale Cemetery as a venue for years, but now they’re staging their first outdoor screenings outside the Spielman Centre at this historic location on August 26.

First up at 5:15pm is that inconceivably evergreen fantasy comedy The Princess Bride, which is followed at 7:45pm by another ‘80s classic in the form of Tim Burton’s Batman. Go here for tickets and further information.
