Locks changed to popular student nightclub
Locks to a popular student nightclub have been changed as multiple bailiff notices on the club’s door suggest an eviction of the current licensees.
The notice taped to the door of Lizard Lounge on Monday morning that notified the change of locks also instructed the licensees, Lizard Lounge Ltd, to collect their goods within the property no later than June 30 after which they could be disposed off.
Next to the legal notice was a forfeiture notice that warned of civil or criminal proceedings against Lizard Lounge Ltd if they attempted to re-enter the premises on Queen’s Road on the Clifton Triangle.
The notice from Parkinson Bailiff Services on behalf of London-based Dragon Retail Properties reads: “Under the terms and conditions of your lease we as authorised agents acting on behalf of the landlord have this day re-entered these premises and the lease is hereby determined.
“Any attempt by you or your agents to enter the demised premises will result in criminal/civil proceedings being taken against you.”

Dragon Retail Properties have previously filed for a shadow licence at Lizard Lounge.
Generally used by landlords to safeguard their own rights, a shadow license allows the authorisation of secondary licensees despite the existence of a primary licensee. In an event, where the first license is revoked or suspended, the shadow licensee holder can step in and continue to operate the premises.
If they are granted a shadow license, Dragon Retail Properties hopes to continue operating the premises that first opened in 1997 and is especially popular with students.
