New bingo-style reading challenge announced
Bristol Libraries has launched a new challenge for readers as part of the National Year of Reading 2026.
The free challenge encourages readers aged 16 and over to explore different books and genres by completing a bingo-style card.
Participants can read books in any format – including physical books, e-books and audiobooks – as long as they fit one of the categories on the card.

Anyone with a Bristol Libraries membership can take part by signing up online or at their local library and collecting a Book Bingo card from library staff.
The challenge runs until December 31, giving readers several months to complete their cards. Everyone who submits a completed card will receive a Book Bingo badge and be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 book voucher.
The launch comes alongside this year’s Summer Reading Challenge for children, with Bristol Libraries hoping to encourage people of all ages to read for pleasure throughout the year.
