Two men arrested over murder of Barry Rubery
The two men, aged 30 and 19, were arrested on Tuesday evening at addresses in Bristol and Peterborough. They are in custody and are being questioned.
The 68-year-old was found dead after he was brutally attacked outside his home near Bristol on April 28, 2010.
Police know he had been out with friends that evening and returned to Crossing Cottage at about 10.45pm. He was found with head injuries the morning after.
Investigations and numerous appeals for information were made to locate the killers in the years that followed, with no success.
Last year, police appealed for an anonymous caller to get in touch. Detectives received three anonymous calls, one shortly after Mr Rubery’s death, one after the inquest was opened in January 2012 and the third in June last year.
“The messages have been directly relevant to one of our lines of inquiry,” DCI Gareth Bevan said at the time.
Anyone with information on the murder can call police on 101, or the Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
