‘Merciless’ murderer sentenced to life in prison
Zachariah Talbert-Young has been jailed for life for the murder of Eddie Kinuthia in St Paul’s in July 2023.
The 27-year-old, formerly of Easton, will serve a minimum term of 22 years and 136 days for Eddie’s murder.
Talbert-Young, along with Paul Hayden, 22, was also found guilty of attempted murder in a separate attack on Nathan Williams in Lawrence Hill in 2024.

Talbert-Young and Hayden are both serving life sentences
19-year-old Eddie suffered multiple stab wounds in what judge Justice Pepperall described as “horrific” and “merciless” attacks on Grosvenor Road Triangle.
Talbert-Young received an additional life sentence for the attempted murder of Nathan Williams, with a minimum term of 20 years. He will serve both terms concurrently.
Hayden was also jailed for life for attempted murder, serving a minimum term of 17 years and 136 days.
In a statement to the court, Eddie’s mother Irene Muthemba said that her son “may not be here in person, but his legacy will live on through the lives saved by your convictions”.
“You don’t get to put any other family through what you put us through. You took his life, so now he takes your freedom.”

Later, speaking outside Bristol Crown Court, Irene added: “It’s enough bloodshed on the streets of Bristol.
“And we, as adults, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to show these young children carrying knives that it costs so much. Nothing is worth a life.”
Detective chief inspector Mark Almond, who led the investigation for Avon and Somerset Police, said: “I want to pay tribute to the patience and dignity shown by both families throughout this lengthy and harrowing process.
“Their strength has been remarkable, and our thoughts remain firmly with Irene and her family for their devastating loss and Nathan as he continues to recover from his injuries.
“I also wish to pay tribute to the support shown to the inquiry by local residents within the St Paul’s community.
“This support has been invaluable and shows that incidents such as these will not be tolerated.
“These convictions mean that two dangerous men will now remain behind bars, and our streets are safer as a result.”
