The company that makes Storm Shadow missiles has a base in Bristol
The defence company who manufacture the Storm Shadow missiles thought to have been used by Ukraine against targets inside Russia for the first time has a key base in Bristol.
MBDA is part of the BAE Systems site on Golf Course Lane in Filton.
The company was created in 2001 after the merger of missile systems companies in France, Italy and the UK.
MMDA, which made €4.5bn in revenue in 2023, held a careers open day in Filton in March, with job opportunities available including in engineering, design, software, project management and procurement.
Encouraging jobseekers to attend that event, MBDA informed applicants that their Bristol base has an “all-day barista-style café, and a canteen for lunch; both with heavily subsidised prices on food and drink”.
Their website describes them “as a leading defence company in Europe, we are proud to design and manufacture missiles and missile systems used to protect the UK and its allies”.
“We provide products and services to each branch of the armed forces, working in partnership with the MOD, our European MBDA companies, and other defence manufacturers towards common goals.”
“It’s the sovereign responsibility of our governments and armed forces to defend our nations against any threats to ensure our freedom, safety and security,” the MBDA website adds.
