New mural highlights Bristol-based defence firm

By Martin Booth  Friday Jun 28, 2024

An artist has used her latest work to highlight an Israeli-owned arms firm whose main UK operational facility is in Bristol.

The artwork by RTiiiKA, aka Rosa ter Kuile, features the colours of the Palestine flag on which is a white dove holding an olive branch while two bombs are dropped to the floor.

RTiiiKA, who is based in Centrespace Studios on Leonard Lane, is the designer behind the Bristol Beacon logo and the founder of Bristol Mural Collective.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!

The piece has been painted on Redcliffe Way close to the Quakers Burial Ground between St Mary Redcliffe Church and the Redcliffe Bascule Bridge, where there used to be a painting of Captain Tom Moore.

Writing on Instagram, RTiiiKA said: “Weapons, drones, surveillance systems. Proudly made in Bristol.”

The UK arm of Elbit Systems describes themselves as “an innovative defence technology company… (which) provides cutting-edge capabilities for the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, protecting the UK at home and abroad”.

Numerous protests have taken place at Elbit’s Bristol base at Aztec West.

In February, a group of seven protesters were found guilty of breaking into Elbit and causing thousands of pounds of damage to equipment as well as spray-painting messages such as ‘Free Palestine’.

Representatives of Elbit Systems UK have said at Bristol Crown Court that it does not supply Israel with arms.
