Popular street food stall to open new site

By Karen Johnson  Tuesday Feb 17, 2026

A popular street food business will soon have a permanent home in the city through a new sister venture.

Fat Rice founder Kit Lee plans to open Rice Box in one of the newly added shipping containers near M Shed in Wapping Wharf.

If all goes to plan, the newest addition to Wapping Wharf will start trading from March 5.

Kit Lee’s Fat Rice first trading at markets across Bristol in 2019

Rice Box will serve the same Malaysian flavours Fat Rice is well known for, along with an extended menu of noodle dishes and changing specials.

Formerly an engineer in the nuclear industry, Kit entered Bristol’s hospitality scene in 2019 with the hope of introducing familiar flavours he grew up on to the city.

Seven years later, Fat Rice can be spotted at food markets across the city, including occasional pop-up residencies at other kitchens.

Talking about his new venture, Kit said: “We’ve been coming to Wapping Wharf since it first opened years ago and have probably tried almost every restaurant there.

“Some of our favourite restaurants are those in Wapping Wharf and we love the whole concept and vibe and have always wanted to be a part of the community.

“What we’re most excited about trading at Wapping Wharf is knowing that with all the wonderful options around, all our lunch meals are going to be delicious!”
