Suggestions wanted for future of empty plot of land in prime location

By Martin Booth  Thursday Jul 9, 2026

Developers of an empty plot of land in the heart of Clifton Village pledge that its future will be shaped by suggestions from the local community.

The site off Clifton Down Road next to Boyce’s Avenue has been unused for more than a decade with developers saying their long-term plans “include a residential-led scheme with a mixture of ground floor commercial uses”.

An interactive map asks for ideas on how to make this corner of Clifton Village better.

Meanwhile, developers Sweet Projects has submitted a planning application for a temporary pop-up restaurant on the site until building work can begin.

Sweet Projects CEO, Gareth Sweet, said: “We want to understand the local area – what people value, what they think could be improved and any ideas they have for its future.

“We want to engage our local community, listen to their ideas and any ideas for improvement.”
