Bristol seafood restaurant named second best in UK

By Milan Perera  Friday Feb 27, 2026

A Bristol seafood restaurant has been named runner-up in the Restaurant of the Year category at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2026.

The family-run restaurant Noah’s narrowly missed out on the top prize to Trenchers of Whitby, but improved on its third-place finish in the same category in 2024.

Located beneath the Cumberland Basin flyover, the fish and chip restaurant opened almost three years ago and has since built a national reputation, with its menu hailed by food critics and celebrity chefs alike.

The seafood kitchen is run by the husband-and-wife team Dan and Joie Rosser and is named after their son, Noah.

Dan Rosser said: “When we set out to open Noah’s, we wanted to create a place which we, our team, and the people of Bristol, are proud to have in their city.

“Naturally, being so close, it would have been amazing to clinch first place, but we are over the moon to be ranked second in the UK for Fish & Chip Restaurant of the Year.

“It’s a hell of an achievement and one we’re really proud of, and we couldn’t have done it without our brilliant team and customers who champion us every day. All five finalists are fantastic in their own right – a huge congratulations to Trenchers of Whitby.”

The awards, now in their 38th year, recognise excellence across the industry, with finalists judged on food quality, sustainability, leadership and overall dining experience through rigorous inspections, interviews and mystery taste tests.

Noah’s has attracted high-profile praise since it opened, with the Guardian restaurant critic Grace Dent describing it as “one of the nicest restaurants in years”, while culinary stalwart Marco Pierre White gave his seal of approval.
