Yoga teacher to open new community wellness hub

By Cara Peters  Sunday Jul 19, 2026

A new community wellness space is set to open in a historic building in St Phillip’s.

Archive Wellness, opening in September, will be located on the top floor of the Old Library on Trinity Road – a striking Grade II-listed Victorian building designed by architect William Venn Gough in 1896.

Behind the project is Seana Ruddick, a yoga teacher and personal trainer, who hopes the hub will become an inclusive space for people to exercise and connect.

Community lies at the heart of the Archive Wellness, Seana says. She has been running free community yoga classes in a park every Sunday and says the enthusiasm and encouragement from residents has given her confidence that the project is needed.

The hub is intended to offer an inclusive program that is intentionally broad, including movement, yoga, community film nights and gatherings.

“The program of activities and events will shaped by what people in the local area feel they need,” says Seana.

“There is a cute community cafe just round the corner that someone has opened in their garage, so I’m hoping there will be time for coffee, socialising and more community building after class.”

Seana, who two years ago left her 15-year engineering career in medical design and robotics to pursue teaching full time, spoke about her journey to become a small business owner.

She says: “Coming out of the corporate environment going into building a small business from scratch as a beginner has at times felt like a lot but the support from other yoga teachers and wellness business sharing on what has worked for their unique and special space has been so helpful.

“It made me realise I was on the right track and that this space, in my local area is right for me”.
