Bristol chip shop shortlisted for National Fish and Chip awards
A Bristol chippy billed as “fish and chips with a twist” when it opened has been shortlisted for the National Fish & Chip Awards.
Fisk & Frite in St Werburgh’s has made the shortlist in the all new Menu Innovation category at the 2026 National Fish & Chip Awards.
The National Federation of Fish Friers introduced the new award to recognise shops pushing the culinary boundaries of the classic dish, combining creativity with sustainability and broad appeal.
Opened in October 2024 on Mina Road, the fish bar has built a loyal following for its competitive £10 meal deals and the more sophisticated seafood dishes, including its popular seafood boil.

The shop exterior, adorned with a giant octopus mural by Aspire, prides itself on sourcing high quality, sustainable fish, with plant based choices also on the menu.
Alongside traditional favourites such as battered cod and triple cooked chips, its standout dish is a flavour forward seafood boil featuring lobster, crab, prawns and other seasonal seafood.
Named among the top three of the category, Fisk & Frite will compete against Harrison’s Fish and Chip Co in Oxford and the regional competitor Knights Fish Restaurant in Glastonbury.

Fisk & Frite will be joined by two other Bristol fish bars at the national awards: Noah’s and Henbury Flyer.
Noah’s, described by the Guardian restaurant critic Grace Dent as “one of the nicest restaurants in years”, has been shortlisted for Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year, while Henbury Fryer, named among the top 40 chippies in the UK, is in the running for Takeaway of the Year.
The awards ceremony will take place at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London on February 25.
