Bristol restaurants retain Michelin stars

By Bristol24/7  Monday Oct 3, 2016

Bristol restaurants Casamia, the Pony & Trap and Wilks have all retained their one Michelin star status.

Also keeping their Bib Gourmand accolades in the 2017 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland are No Man’s Grace and the Bird in Hand.

The latest stars for the newest guide were given out at a live presentation ceremony on Tuesday, the first time that Michelin has held a live ceremony in the UK since the 115-year-old dining guide started publishing an edition for the British Isles in 1911.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Peter Sanchez-Iglesias from Casamia was keeping a beady eye on proceedings, but the Redcliffe restaurant will have to wait another year for its longed-for second star:

Josh and Holly Eggleton of the Pony & Trap were also following live coverage online:

Only 18 new stars were dished out this year, including for James Sommerin in Penarth on the outskirts of Cardiff.

Bib Gourmands indicate a restaurant offering good food at moderate prices, while the definition of a one-star restaurant is very good cuisine, rising to exceptional or exquisite for establishments with two or three stars.

And with its trio of laurels, Bristol still has three more Michelin stars than Manchester.
