Bristol restaurant named UK’s best for Korean cuisine
One of Bristol’s best Korean restaurants has now also been named as the country’s best restaurant for Korean cuisine outside London, according to a list published by Time Out.
Bokman on Nine Tree Hill featured on the publication’s list of the best restaurants in the UK, claiming second spot overall and top spot for Korean cuisine.
Ranking after Osip in Somerset, the restaurant run by husband and wife duo Kyu Jeong Jeon and Duncan Robertson is the only Bristol restaurant to feature on the list of 20 picks.
Calling it the “critics’ ultimate ranking of the best restaurants in the UK right now”, the list features restaurants from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
“This homely Korean cooking from super talented chefs is the kind of understated food that you’ll be thinking about for a long time afterwards,” the Time Out list read, while recommending the restaurant for its selection of Korean dishes, including stews, mandu, banchan and noodles.
The tongdak – wood oven roast chicken, stuffed with sticky rice and mooli pickles and served with a dipping sauce – was called “the star of the show” at Bokman.
Kyu and Duncan also run Dongnae, another Korean restaurant on Chandos Road, that has become a firm favourite since opening in September 2024, having also been included in the Michelin Guide.
