Bar and restaurant to close after 15 ‘truly special’ years

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Jun 3, 2026

The general manager of a bar and restaurant that has operated for 15 years says it has “reached the end of the road” as he announced it will be closing on July 4.

The Social on Cheltenham Road hosts regular live music alongside its food and drink offering which specialises in locally sourced produce.

It was previously One30 and La Voglia before becoming the Social, which is now owned by Krystoff Zielinski.

Writing on Instagram, the Social’s general manager Charlie Whitsed Robbins said the decision to close was taken “after many a battle and endless discussion” and that “it breaks my heart to bring this news to you all”.

“The Social has become a home to many of us but what’s made it truly special is all of you, every single last one of you that stepped through those doors and welcomed us into this beautiful community,” said Charlie, who began at the Social as a bartender before moving into management.

“As a community you welcomed us with open arms and over 15 years we’ve tried our hardest to show the love back that you’ve all shown us.

“The locals we’ve had are unmatched and will always be remembered with a tear in my eye and love in my heart.

“We’ve seen weddings, funerals and children born out of what’s happened here at the social and every moment has been as important as the next.

“In my almost nine years here, I’ve met some of the best people the world has to offer and experienced a sense of belonging I don’t think I’ll ever receive again…

“Every member of my team over the years, this is to you, you’re truly the most fantastic, creative, hardworking, beautiful people I could ever be blessed to work with and make my family.

“I could waffle on all day but I’ll stop boring you all!

“We’ve got some killa send off parties to come so I expect to see all of you here as much as possible whilst we’re still here.”
