‘Beloved’ Italian restaurant to close after 13 years

By Betty Woolerton  Friday Jul 28, 2023

A long-running restaurant in Clifton is closing its doors after 13 years.

Rosemarino on York Place is one of Bristol’s most well-established restaurants in the city, known for its Italian-inspired casual brunches, lunches, dinners and drinks.

Opened in 2009 by founders Sam Fryer and Mirco Bertoldi, the restaurant has been awarded several accolades, including Bristol Good Food Best Breakfast and Best Italian across numerous year.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Rosemarino serves produce from a host of Bristol-based business, including Clifton Coffee, El Colmado Imports, Wiper & True and RS Wines.

The Rosemarino team cited “relentless financial pressures” for its closure.

“After thirteen wonderful years, we have made the difficult decision to close the doors at our beloved neighbourhood restaurant permanently,” Rosemarino wrote in a statement posted on Instagram.

“The past few years have thrown some major curveballs at the industry we love, and the relentless financial pressures have made it increasingly difficult for us to sustain our small business.

“Despite our best efforts, we are no longer able to continue serving you in the way we envisioned.

“To all those we have welcomed over the years, and all the amazing staff who have been part of the team, we are immensely grateful for your love and support; we cannot thank you enough for being a part of Rosemarino’s story.”

Rosemarino’s final day of service will be on Sunday.
