Skatepark founders take over pub
A North Street pub has been taken over by the organisation behind some of our city’s best-known skateboarding projects.
Campus Skateboarding, which is also responsible for nearby bar the Dame on Dean Lane and pop-up Broadmead skatepark Shredenhams, are the new owners of Local Bristol.
The venue is being renamed as the Local, with the new custodians saying they are “excited to take things in a new direction”.
is needed now More than ever
But the community interest company added they will be bringing “that same community-first approach into a neighbourhood bar and kitchen that’s welcoming to everyone”.
The takeover comes more than two years after the pub was rebranded by the Anything But Standard bar group, which renamed the former North Street Standard as Local Bristol.

The new team have given the the terrace a refresh and, looking to the future, promise live music and community events
On the change, a spokesperson for the Local said: “After years in Bristol hospitality and leisure (building community spaces through Campus Skateparks), we’re excited to take things in a new direction.
“We’re bringing that same community-first approach into a neighbourhood bar and kitchen that’s welcoming to everyone, whether you’re popping in for breakfast, meeting friends, bringing the family or staying for the evening.
“Don’t worry, you’ll still see the same amazing team behind the bar. We’re simply giving the space a fresh new chapter.
“Over the coming months, you’ll start to see plenty of changes.
“We’ve already refreshed the branding, transformed the artwork throughout the venue and given the front terrace a much needed glow-up just in time for summer.
“Next up, we’re creating an even warmer, more welcoming space and a refreshed food offering.”
