The Nottingham singer raising money for local mental health charity
Nottingham soul singer-songwriter and Ivor Novello ‘In The Making’ artist Rob Green is hoping to use his first UK tour to confront mental health.
He will be raising money for Talk Club with an intimate immersive tour of unconventional venues.
The artist will be performing at Trinity Centre on March 24, in which he will create an immersive “living room” experience that breaks down taboos around mental health and identity.
is needed now More than ever
The Undercover Tour was inspired by his latest EP, Manhood, which explores themes of racial identity, sexuality and masculinity.
A mental health advocate, the singer has partnered up with national men’s mental health charity Talk Club to raise money and link audiences to ways to explore their own wellbeing after the tour.
Founded in March 2019 (and gaining charity status in 2021), Talk Club has grown from a small group of men in the back of a pub in Bristol, to a global community of nearly 80 clubs and over 3500 men.
As well as Bristol, The Undercover Tour will be visiting Nottingham, Leeds, Birmingham and Brighton.
The tour will emphasis the importance of community support and links in with local Talk Club groups to provide spaces for men to explore mental health in a communal setting beyond the music.
Ben Cipolla and Aileen Kelly are included on Bristol’s lineup, they will perform and share their own stories, poetry and music as part of the night.
Gavin Thorpe, Talk Club co-Founder and co-CEO said: “We’re really honoured to be part of Rob’s tour. His Idea to introduce emotional openness to his audience is very much what our charity is about.
“Being honest about our feelings doesn’t have to be a risky, scary thing. We do this by asking, “How are you? Out of 10? And Rob championing this, will hopefully get more conversations started, more men join Talk Club and more men mentally fit.”
